Feltech in conjunction with FCO Services have successfully completed the installation of multiple technical facilities for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s (FCO) new Language School in King Charles Street.
Opened by the Foreign Secretary William Hague on September 16th September, the language school features 40 bright and modern classrooms able to train up to 1,000 full and part-time language students over the course of 12 months, in up to 80 different languages from Arabic to Zulu. The school also boasts a multi-media informal study area providing students with an extensive library of over 4000 books, digital resources, over 50 foreign language television channels, virtual learning software and full access to internet resources over a cutting edge, high security, wireless network. The school will offer 70,000 hours of teaching each year, for staff from both the FCO and Departments across Whitehall.
Feltech worked in close partnership with FCO Services to design and implement a range of integrated Audio Visual and IT solutions for the project. The system features interactive touch screen PCs running the latest Windows 8 multimedia training software, listening stations with wireless headphones, large screen presentation facilities and a comprehensive IT network across the whole facility.
Foreign Secretary William Hague said “We thank everyone in the Foreign Office and FCO Services who has been involved in this project. We have turned a previously under-used space in the lower ground floor into a bright, modern, first class language learning facility.” To read more about the project follow the link to read the Foreign Secretary’s opening presentation speech;
