On December 18th 2012 HM Queen Elizabeth II was invited to attend a presentation at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, commemorating the end of her Diamond Jubilee year.
Hosted by Foreign Secretary William Hague, the Royal visit included a special announcement that the southern part of the British Antarctic Territory has been named Queen Elizabeth Land in honour of the Diamond Jubilee.
The Foreign and Commonwealth office asked Feltech to assist with this prestigious occasion, both filming the presentation and live relay of the footage around the FCO’s central distribution network.
Utilising the in-house IPTV network that Feltech installed on the FCO’s behalf in 2010 to distribute the footage throughout the site, the team were able to ensure all staff around King Charles Street and the Old Admiralty Building could view events as they happened. This is the first time that the IPTV system has been used to distribute live coverage of an event to FCO staff and came about at Feltech’s suggestion.
